ANAMBRA DAY CELEBRATIONS
This is an event where ASTPA celebrates, promotes and projects the rich cultural heritage of Anambra state to the world. It involves the parade/showcasing of the cultural artefacts, practices, dances, masquerades, crafts, food, costumes and traditions of the various communities in Anambra state. Each of the events in the past has been massively attended by crowd of Ndi Anambra and friends from all over Nigeria and beyond. It started as an annual event in 2006 and 2007 and became biennial celebration which held in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. Most these past editions were staged at the Eagle Square, Abuja. Future editions are expected to hold in 2019, 2021 and so on.
PUBLIC LECTURE AND AWARD NIGHTS
ASTPA has put in place Public Lecture series where the consciousness of Ndi Anambra particularly those in the FCT are re-awakened on the tropical issues concerning and relating to them. It is also a platform that brings Ndi Anambra from all works of life together to share ideas on the topic presented for discussion and interact with one another in a relaxed atmosphere. Topics/Themes for discussion at these gatherings are carefully selected to reflect the contemporary/burning issues at that particular time. Sometimes, aside the lectures, deserving Ndi Anambra in FCT who have excelled in their fields of endeavor are honored by giving them Awards during the event to encourage them to do more. Nine Awardees were honored in 2012 and ten in 2014. Similarly, the Association organized a befitting reception for public/civil servants from the rank of Directors and above, Legislators and Political appointees from Anambra state in the FCT in September 2011. This is also a biennial event and mostly on the years we do not celebrate Anambra Day.
ANNUAL THANKSGIVING
Although ASTPA is not a faith-based organization, yet Ndi Anambra are predominantly Christians. So the Association organizes a thanksgiving programme every year to appreciate God for all He has done for Ndi Anambra as individuals, families, town unions and ASTPA as an Association. The thanksgiving which holds at the beginning of every year is also used to pray for God’s protection, guidance and continued peace, progress and development in Anambra State, Abuja and Nigeria at large. It is arranged to alternate between at the Catholic and Anglican Churches.
