On behalf of Anambra State Towns (People) Association (ASTPA) Abuja, I welcome you all to this auspicious occasion which is specifically designed to engage and prepare our youths to face the challenges of the day. Today is therefore not a long speech making event but suffice it to say that this youth development workshop is our proactive response to abate the increasing unemployment rate among our youths. Essentially, we are here to impact knowledge and add value to our youths. It is our desire that after this workshop, our youths will be challenged to be employers of labor as opposed to the present situation of desperately looking for employment. We urge our youths to always remain focused and never give up.
As a people, we have a responsibility to encourage our youths to achieve greater heights. We therefore appeal to the various town unions to complement this gesture by providing the necessary funds and support for their youths to set up businesses after this well-structured skill acquisition programme.

During this exercise the participants will be exposed to leadership and entrepreneurial skills and other carefully selected electives such as Web development/management/ blogging, Electronic installations. DSTV/CCTV/Scanner, Bread and Cake making, Graphics design, Interior decoration, bead making etc. It is important to mention at this juncture, that these electives were selected after a survey to establish the needs of our youths in the FCT. The resource persons were drawn from the National Directorate of Employment and Digital distant learning Institute(Afrihub).
Your Excellency, distinguished ladies and gentlemen,In conclusion, we sincerely express our appreciation to the management and staff of Sandralia Hotel Limited for the support given to us in organizing this programme. Our gratitude also goes to Royal doors, Zalis resources limited, Afrihub ICT Institute, Elibond International Limited, Allmaaj Nig Limited and National Directorate of Employment for supporting the programme in various capacities
